Love Matters & Other Key Themes from the Quest for Excellence Conference
Want to know what love, storytelling, community commitment, process orientation, key metrics, and technology focus have in common? They're all key takeaways of the Baldrige Quest for Excellence Conference.
The conference, which took place in Baltimore, MD in April, showcased the best practices of the 2017 Baldrige National Quality Award winners - including TNCPE Excellence winner Bristol Tennessee Essential Services.
For those who couldn't attend the conference in person, Blogrige, the official Baldrige blog, has summed up the keys to performance excellence from these world-class organizations in six over-arching themes:
- love matters
- community commitment
- process orientation
- tracking key metric yields great financials
- technology focus
Read the full summary of these best practices - plus two extra gems - by Harry Hertz.
"Harry Hertz, the Baldrige Cheermudgeon, is Director Emeritus of the Baldrige Program. He joined the Program in 1992 after a decade in management in the analytical chemistry and chemical sciences laboratories at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the home of the Baldrige Program.
His favorite aspects of the Baldrige Program are: (1) the opportunity to interact with leading thinkers from all sectors of the U.S. economy who serve as volunteers in the Baldrige Program, who participate in the Baldrige Executive Fellows Program, and who represent Award applicants at the forefront of the continuous journey to performance excellence, and (2) the intellectual challenge of synthesizing ideas from leading thinkers into a set of continuously revised Criteria for Performance Excellence, that always mirror the 'leading edge of validated leadership and performance practice.'"
